Our School

The University of Florida Literacy Institute (UFLI, pronounced “You Fly”) is a literacy initiative from the University of Florida focused on improving reading outcomes for children through evidence-based reading instruction. UFLI combines teacher development and student literacy support using research grounded in the Science of Reading.

The UFLI Foundations program is an explicit and systematic phonics and foundational reading skills curriculum designed for:

  • Core reading instruction in primary grades

  • Reading intervention for struggling readers

  • Small-group or whole-class instruction


Heggerty is an evidence-based phonemic awareness curriculum used in many schools across the country. It focuses on helping children hear, identify, and work with sounds in spoken words.

Phonemic awareness is one of the strongest predictors of future reading success.

Heggerty lessons are:

  • Short and engaging

  • Oral and interactive

  • Taught daily

  • Filled with songs, movement, and games

  • Appropriate for young learners


Go Math! is a comprehensive mathematics program designed to help children build a strong foundation in math through hands-on learning, problem-solving, and real-world applications. The program aligns with state learning standards and encourages students to develop both mathematical skills and confidence. What will my child learn?
Depending on grade level, students will develop skills in:

  1. Number recognition and counting

  2. Addition and subtraction concepts

  3. Patterns and problem-solving strategies

  4. Measurement and data

  5. Geometry and spatial reasoning

  6. Mathematical vocabulary and communication


The Good Shepherd curriculum is a faith-based early childhood program that supports the development of the whole child. Lessons and activities are designed to help children:

  • Build foundational academic skills

  • Develop positive social behaviors

  • Strengthen emotional growth

  • Learn about kindness, compassion, and respect

  • Explore faith and values in age-appropriate ways

The curriculum combines:

  • Play-based learning

  • Hands-on activities

  • Early literacy and math instruction

  • Social-emotional learning

  • Bible stories and character development
